Garden Rooms Raynes Park

Bespoke garden rooms for Raynes Park’s elegant Edwardian streets and generous family gardens. Garden Office Buildings has been building locally for over twenty years.

Raynes Park is one of South West London’s most appealing residential areas, with tree lined Edwardian streets, strong community spirit, and gardens that genuinely give you room to work with. From the terraced homes on Tolverne Road and Lambton Road north of the station to the larger properties with expansive plots on Blenheim Road and Heath Drive to the south, Raynes Park is perfectly suited for a bespoke garden room.

We are a family company based in Biggin Hill, and we have been designing and installing garden rooms across this part of SW20 for over two decades. Whether you need a garden office to escape the commute to Waterloo, a studio for creative work, or a gym that saves you the trip to Wimbledon, we will build it to fit your garden precisely. Our team handles everything from foundations to electrics, and we never use subcontractors you have not met.

Our showroom in Biggin Hill is well worth the drive. You can walk through finished buildings, examine the materials, and get a real sense of the quality before committing. There is no sales pressure, just honest conversation about what will work for your space.

Garden Gym, Raynes Park

A GP working at a local surgery wanted a home gym in her garden to help manage the physical and mental demands of the job. She lived in a four bedroom Edwardian semi on Trewince Road, with a well maintained south facing garden around 16 metres deep. We designed a 4.5m x 3.5m garden gym set back from the patio area, leaving space for her children’s trampoline and the vegetable patch she was not prepared to sacrifice.

Inside, we fitted padded rubber flooring, a compact functional trainer, a Peloton bike alcove with dedicated power and screen mount, and a wall mounted Bluetooth speaker system. Two roof lights and a fully glazed front door flood the space with natural light, and a mini split air conditioning unit handles temperature control in every season. The exterior is finished in sage green composite cladding, chosen to sit sympathetically with the mature garden planting.

She told us the gym has become her sanctuary after long surgery hours. She trains three to four mornings a week before the school run and uses the space for yoga on quieter evenings. Her partner has started cycling on the Peloton regularly, and they estimate the building paid for itself within 18 months when they cancelled their gym memberships and factored in the value added to the property.

Garden Office, Raynes Park

An IT project manager who had been commuting to Canary Wharf five days a week negotiated a permanent remote working arrangement and immediately started planning a garden office. He lived in a 1930s detached house on Heath Drive with a generous rear garden over 20 metres deep and wide side access via a paved driveway. We built a Maxi at 6m x 4m, one of the larger home offices we have installed in the area, with space for a full workstation, a standing desk, and a small meeting area with two visitor chairs.

We ran gigabit ethernet from the house using an armoured external cable, installed a dedicated consumer unit, and fitted underfloor heating for year round comfort. The office has full height glazing across the front elevation with external blinds, and the interior walls are finished in a warm off white with integrated LED downlights. A small kitchenette area with a sink and mini fridge means he does not need to keep walking back to the house during the working day.

He reckons the garden office has saved him over twelve hours a week in commuting time and has measurably improved his quality of life. His employer was so impressed by the setup during a video tour that they offered to contribute towards the cost as part of their remote working support programme. He has since recommended us to three colleagues.

    About Raynes Park

Raynes Park is a residential suburb within the London Borough of Merton, situated south west of Wimbledon Common and north of Motspur Park. The area developed rapidly after the opening of Raynes Park station in 1871, and its elegant Edwardian and 1930s housing stock gives the streets real architectural character. North of the station, roads like Tolverne, Lambton, and Trewince feature terraced homes, while the streets to the south, including Blenheim Road, Heath Drive, and Grand Drive, offer larger detached and semi detached properties with expansive rear gardens. Cannon Hill Common and Cottenham Park provide peaceful green retreats within walking distance.

Raynes Park station offers South Western Railway services to London Waterloo in approximately 20 minutes, making it a popular commuter base. The shopping area around Coombe Lane, anchored by a large Waitrose, provides everyday amenities, and the area benefits from excellent schools at both primary and secondary level. Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park are both within easy reach. Neighbouring areas include Wimbledon, New Malden, Merton, and Morden. Properties here typically have well kept rear gardens, often 15 to 25 metres deep, making them particularly well suited for garden room projects.

    Visit Our Showroom

From Raynes Park, our Biggin Hill showroom is approximately 35 to 40 minutes by car, heading south east through Sutton or via the A232 and A233. It is an easy and pleasant drive, and gives you the opportunity to walk through our Midi, Maxi, and Multi display buildings in person.

“We were recommended to Garden Office Buildings by a neighbour on our street who already had one of their builds. After visiting the showroom we knew we were in safe hands. The quality is exceptional, the team are professional and friendly, and our garden office was completed in just four weeks. It has genuinely changed the way we live and work.” – Helen and Mark, Raynes Park SW20
