Garden Rooms Woolwich

Bespoke garden buildings for Woolwich’s growing residential community. From Victorian family homes to riverside new builds, we’ve got you covered.

Woolwich is in the middle of a major transformation. The Elizabeth line has put it firmly on the map, the Royal Arsenal development is bringing thousands of new homes, and there’s a real buzz about the area. But beyond the riverside apartments, Woolwich still has streets of solid Victorian and Edwardian family houses with proper gardens, and that’s where we come in. A garden room from our team gives you extra space without the hassle and cost of a house extension.

We’re a family business based in Biggin Hill, about 25 minutes from Woolwich. We’ve been building bespoke garden offices, gyms, and studios since 2004, with over 1,000 completed projects across South East London and Kent. Whether you’re in a Victorian terrace off Woolwich High Street or a semi on the slopes heading towards Plumstead, we’ll design a garden room that fits your space and your budget.

Come to our showroom and walk through a finished building. It’s the quickest way to understand the difference between our construction and the mass produced alternatives you’ll find online.

Our buildings and prices page gives you a clear picture of costs. Everything is included in our quotes: base, structure, electrics, and interior finishing. No nasty surprises once the build starts.

Garden Gym, Woolwich

A serving soldier based at Woolwich Barracks wanted a dedicated strength and conditioning space at his family home, a three bedroom Victorian terrace on Sandy Hill Road. He trains with heavy compound lifts and needed a building that could handle the load, both structurally and acoustically. We built a 4.5m x 4m garden room with a reinforced concrete base, 18mm rubber flooring throughout, and enhanced sound insulation to keep noise impact on neighbours to a minimum.

The interior features a full power rack, plate storage, and a dedicated area for Olympic lifting with bumper plates. We installed commercial grade LED lighting, a wall mounted speaker, and an extraction fan. Outside, we created a small gravel apron around the entrance for muddy boots after outdoor sessions in the garden.

He told us the gym has become central to his training routine, and that several colleagues from the barracks have come to see it. The building has handled daily heavy use without any settlement or movement, which is exactly what a proper engineered base and frame are designed to deliver.

Garden Office, Woolwich

A financial analyst who’d been commuting to Canary Wharf on the Elizabeth line decided to negotiate a hybrid working arrangement and invest in a proper home office. She lives in a 1930s semi on Herbert Road with a wide, south facing garden. We installed a Maxi at 6m x 3.5m with cedar cladding, a mono pitch roof, and full width bi fold doors across the front.

Inside, the office has a standing desk along the rear wall, a meeting table for four, and a compact bookshelf. We ran CAT6 ethernet from the house, installed a small split system for heating and cooling, and added blackout blinds for screen work on bright days. The bi fold doors are a real feature, opening the office up to the garden on warm afternoons.

She now works from home three days a week and says the garden office has made the arrangement genuinely productive rather than just convenient. Her Canary Wharf commute on the Elizabeth line takes just eight minutes when she does go in, so she’s got the best of both worlds.

    About Woolwich

Woolwich has a rich military and industrial heritage, centred on the Royal Arsenal, which for centuries manufactured munitions for the British armed forces. Today the Arsenal site is being transformed into a mixed use neighbourhood with riverside apartments, public squares, and cultural facilities including the Woolwich Works performance venue. The town centre is also seeing significant investment, and the arrival of the Elizabeth line has dramatically improved connectivity.

Beyond the regeneration zones, Woolwich has streets of Victorian and Edwardian terraces, interwar semis, and post war housing, many with good sized gardens. Plumstead Road and the streets climbing towards Shooter’s Hill offer particularly spacious plots. The Elizabeth line connects Woolwich to Canary Wharf in 8 minutes, Liverpool Street in 14, and the West End in around 22, making it one of South East London’s best connected areas. For garden room projects, the combination of large gardens and excellent access makes Woolwich a straightforward place to work.

“We’d been quoted by two other companies before visiting the Garden Office Buildings showroom. The difference in quality was immediately obvious. Thicker walls, better windows, proper insulation. The price was competitive too. Our garden office was built in under a week and we love it.” – Homeowner, Woolwich SE18
