Garden Rooms Gravesend

From riverside Victorian terraces to spacious family homes in Shorne, we’re building garden rooms across Gravesend and the surrounding villages.

Gravesend is a town with real character. Sitting on the south bank of the Thames with a proud maritime heritage, it’s a place where Victorian streets, modern developments, and green countryside all come together. And for homeowners looking to add usable space, a bespoke garden building is one of the smartest investments you can make.

The housing stock across Gravesend is diverse. Near the town centre and riverside, you’ll find Victorian and Edwardian terraces with gardens of 30 to 60 feet. Head out towards Shorne, Cobham, or Meopham and the properties get larger, with detached homes on substantial plots and gardens that offer plenty of room for a gym, office, or studio. We tailor every design to your specific space.

We’re a family business based in Biggin Hill, and we’ve been building garden rooms across Kent since 2004. Gravesend is well within our working area, and we’ve seen a growing number of enquiries from the town as more people look for alternatives to moving house. Browse our buildings and prices to get started, or book a visit to our showroom.

With over 1,000 builds completed, we bring real experience to every project. We’ll visit your garden, talk through what you need, and deliver a building that’s designed, built, and finished to a standard you won’t find elsewhere. No middlemen, no subcontractors, just our own team doing what they do best.

Garden Gym, Gravesend

A nurse from Northfleet contacted us about creating a home gym. She worked long shifts at Darent Valley Hospital and could never find time to get to a commercial gym. Her 1960s semi-detached house had a 55-foot garden with a slightly uneven lawn that needed levelling before we could start.

We prepared a level concrete base and built a 4.2m x 3.6m insulated garden gym with vinyl plank flooring over a reinforced subfloor. She wanted it simple but tough, so we installed full electrics, a compact air source heater, wall-mounted mirrors, and heavy-duty hooks for resistance bands. A single wide door gives easy access for moving equipment in and out.

She messaged us a few months after completion to say she’s training four times a week now, something she never managed before. She fits in a 45-minute session before her shifts or on her days off, and having it just steps from the back door makes all the difference. Her partner has set up a small stretching area in one corner and uses it for recovery after his weekend football matches.

Garden Studio, Gravesend

A graphic designer in Shorne was renting a shared workspace in the town centre but wanted to cut costs and reduce the commute. His detached 1970s house sat on a generous plot with a 90-foot garden backed by mature hedging and open farmland beyond. He needed a creative space with good natural light and room for a large monitor setup.

We designed a 5.5m x 4m Multi with floor-to-ceiling glazing across the front elevation and a separate partitioned storage room at the rear for print supplies and archive files. Inside, we fitted a continuous desk along one wall, pendant lighting, underfloor heating, and a mini kitchenette with a sink and small fridge. The building sits on a slightly raised deck platform, giving it a clean, contemporary look.

He told us the studio has paid for itself within the first year through savings on rent and fuel alone. Clients visit him at home now, and the rural outlook through the glass wall always makes an impression. He said it’s the first workspace he’s had that actually inspires creativity, and the quality of the build makes him feel like he’s running a serious operation.

    About Gravesend

Gravesend sits on the south bank of the Thames, 21 miles east of central London, and it’s been an important river town for centuries. The world’s oldest surviving cast iron pier, built in 1834, still stands on the waterfront, and the Victorian era gave the town centre much of the character it retains today, with handsome public buildings, a clock tower, and a well-defined high street.

Transport links are a real strength. Southeastern trains run regularly into London, with journey times of around 24 minutes to St Pancras via the high-speed service from nearby Ebbsfleet International. For drivers, the A2 provides a direct route into London and the M25 is easily accessible. It’s a commuter-friendly town that still feels distinctly Kentish.

Housing ranges from period terraces near the town centre to spacious detached homes in surrounding villages like Shorne, Meopham, and Cobham. Gardens in the terraced streets are typically compact but workable, while plots in the outlying areas can be substantial. The green spaces around Gravesend are excellent, with Shorne Woods Country Park, Jeskyns Community Woodland, and the Thames Estuary all within easy reach.

    Visit Our Showroom

Our Biggin Hill showroom is around 30 minutes from Gravesend by car, heading down the A2 and then south. It’s a straightforward drive and well worth it to see our buildings in person. Walk through our Midi, Maxi, and Multi display models and feel the difference that proper insulation and quality materials make.

“We’d been looking at garden rooms online for months and couldn’t tell the difference between them. Then we visited the showroom in Biggin Hill and it all made sense. The build quality is on another level. Our studio was finished in four weeks and we use it every single day. Genuinely can’t fault them.” – Louise and Tom, Gravesend
