Garden Rooms Keston

Keston’s large gardens and rural setting make it one of our favourite areas to work in. We’ve been building here since 2004.

Keston is a special corner of the Bromley borough, where the suburban edges of London give way to proper countryside. The village sits between Keston Common and the rolling farmland towards Biggin Hill, and properties here tend to come with the kind of generous plots that are perfect for a high-quality garden building.

Many of the homes in Keston are substantial detached houses on large plots, especially within the exclusive Keston Park estate where gardens can stretch to three quarters of an acre or more. Even outside the gated estate, you’ll find properties with wide, mature gardens that offer plenty of scope for a garden office, studio, or gym tucked away among the trees.

We’re based in Biggin Hill, which is literally just down the road, so we know Keston extremely well. We’ve completed numerous builds in the area over the years, and we understand the character of the village and the expectations of homeowners here. Visit our showroom to see the standard we work to, or browse our buildings and prices to start planning your project.

Every Keston build is fully bespoke. We design around your garden’s shape, orientation, and surroundings, and we handle everything from groundworks to electrics. Over 1,000 completed builds means we’ve seen every kind of garden and every kind of challenge, and we get it right first time.

Garden Gym, Keston

A retired couple on Fishponds Road wanted a dedicated exercise space after their physiotherapist recommended daily strength work. They had a beautiful half-acre garden with mature oak trees, and they were keen to position the building where it would catch the morning light without dominating the view from the house.

We designed a 4.5m x 3.5m garden gym with floor-to-ceiling glazing on two sides and a sedum green roof that blends naturally into the wooded surroundings. Inside, we fitted impact-resistant vinyl flooring, a wall-mounted mirror, and plenty of double sockets for equipment. The fully insulated walls and ceiling mean it stays comfortable even on cold January mornings.

They told us it’s become the most used room on their property. The husband does his physio exercises every morning, and his wife uses it for yoga in the afternoons. They said the green roof was the perfect finishing touch for a garden that backs onto Keston Common, and several of their neighbours have been round to see it.

Garden Studio, Keston

An architect living on Heathfield Road needed a dedicated design studio separate from the main house. He’d been working from a spare bedroom for years, but with two young children the noise and interruptions made it impossible to concentrate. His garden was over 100 feet deep, sloping gently towards the treeline at the far end.

We built him a 7m x 4m Multi with a partitioned storage area for plan drawers and samples. The main studio space has a continuous run of glazing across the full width, looking out over the garden towards Keston Ponds. We installed Cat 6 cabling, underfloor heating, and a small kitchenette so he can work a full day without going back to the house.

He said it’s transformed his practice. Clients visit the studio for meetings, and the setting among the trees gives a fantastic impression. He told us it feels like working in the countryside while being five minutes from Bromley. The building went up in just under four weeks, and he was working from it within days of handover.

    About Keston

Keston sits right on the boundary between suburban London and the Kent countryside. It’s a village with a long history, home to the source of the River Ravensbourne at Caesar’s Well and the beautiful Keston Ponds. The common covers 55 hectares of heathland and woodland, and the whole area has a tranquil, almost rural quality that’s rare this close to the capital.

The village has no railway station of its own, but bus routes connect it to Bromley, Hayes, and Biggin Hill, and most residents rely on cars. Properties here tend to be larger and more expensive than the surrounding areas. The Keston Park gated estate is home to around 200 detached houses on generous plots with landscaped gardens, and outside the estate you’ll find a mix of period cottages, 1930s houses, and more modern detached homes, nearly all with sizeable gardens.

It’s a quiet, affluent neighbourhood that attracts families and professionals who want space and greenery without losing access to London. High Elms Country Park and the open farmland towards Downe are on the doorstep, and the village itself has a proper community feel with its church, pub, and local events throughout the year.

“Living in Keston, I wanted a company that understood the area and would build something in keeping with our garden. Garden Office Buildings were fantastic. They came out, looked at the site, and designed something that fits perfectly. The quality is outstanding and the whole team were a pleasure to deal with.” – David, Keston Park
