Garden Rooms Bromley

Garden Office Buildings has been designing and building bespoke garden rooms for Bromley homeowners since 2004, and our Biggin Hill showroom is just eight miles down the road.

Bromley is one of the largest towns in south-east London, with a thriving high street, excellent transport links, and some of the most varied housing stock in the borough. Whether you live in a Victorian cottage near the Old Town, a handsome Edwardian semi in Shortlands, or a spacious 1920s detached home in Bickley, a bespoke garden building is one of the smartest ways to gain extra space without the upheaval of moving.

The gardens in Bromley are one of the area’s great assets. Properties along roads like Bromley Common, Westmoreland Road, and around Sundridge Park tend to sit on generous plots, often 60 to 100 feet deep, with mature planting and enough room for a dedicated garden office, gym, or studio. Even the more compact terraced gardens closer to the High Street and Market Square can usually accommodate a well-designed building if the layout is thought through carefully.

As a family company based in Biggin Hill, we’re genuinely local to Bromley. We’ve completed builds across the town and surrounding areas including Beckenham, Bickley, and Chislehurst. Visit our showroom to walk through our display buildings, or browse our buildings and prices to see what’s possible for your garden.

Every build starts with a free site visit where we measure your garden, discuss what you need, and design a building that fits the space perfectly. We handle everything from groundworks to electrics, and with over 1,000 completed builds behind us, you can trust that the job will be done right.

Save £5,000 with our Ambassador Programme. Allow us to photograph your completed garden room and host up to 3 visits from prospective customers (by appointment only). Learn more.

Garden Gym, Bromley

A barrister living on Ravensbourne Road had been paying for a membership at a local gym near Bromley South but found he could rarely make it more than once a week. With two young children and a demanding schedule, he wanted a training space at the end of his garden where he could fit in a quick session at any time. His 1930s detached house had a south-facing garden of around 85 feet with a level lawn at the rear.

We built a 5.2m x 4m insulated garden gym with reinforced flooring for a power rack and Olympic bar setup, high-density rubber matting throughout, and a wall-mounted air conditioning unit for year-round comfort. Large bi-fold doors face the garden, and we fitted LED strip lighting across the ceiling with a dimmer switch. An external shoe rack and paved pathway from the house keep things clean and accessible in all weather.

He told us that within two months he was training five mornings a week before the children woke up. His wife started using the space for Pilates in the afternoons, and even his father-in-law has been over to use the rowing machine. He said the convenience of stepping out the back door has completely transformed his fitness routine, and the building itself sits comfortably among the mature trees that line the back boundary near Church House Gardens.

Garden Studio, Bromley

A freelance illustrator living in a Victorian terrace near Bromley North station had been working from a cramped spare bedroom for years. With a new baby on the way, the room was needed as a nursery, and she needed a proper creative space with good natural light and room for a large drawing desk. Her garden was modest at around 40 feet, but wide enough to accommodate a building along the side boundary.

We installed a 4.5m x 3m Midi with a full-width glazed front facing north-east, perfect for consistent, even light throughout the day. Inside, we fitted a continuous worktop along one wall, shelving for art supplies, underfloor heating, and pendant lighting. The cedar cladding exterior gives the building a warm, contemporary look that complements the Victorian brickwork of the house.

She moved in two weeks before the baby arrived and said it saved her sanity. Having a dedicated studio just steps from the kitchen means she can work during nap times and still be close enough to hear the monitor. She told us the quality of the build surprised everyone who has visited, and two of her neighbours on the same street have since asked for our details. The building went up under permitted development with no planning issues at all.

    About Bromley

Bromley is the principal town in the London Borough of Bromley, the largest borough by area in Greater London. The town centre clusters around the historic Market Square, which has hosted traders since the 13th century, and the pedestrianised High Street runs north towards Bromley North station. The Glades shopping centre and the independent shops along East Street give the town a genuine retail presence, while Church House Gardens offers a peaceful green escape just off the main drag, complete with an amphitheatre, ornamental lake, and Japanese-style planting.

Transport links are excellent. Bromley South station runs fast services to London Victoria in around 15 minutes, making it one of the quickest commutes in south-east London. Bromley North connects to Grove Park for onward services to Charing Cross and Cannon Street. Buses link the town to Croydon, Lewisham, Crystal Palace, and Orpington, and Tramlink services run from the western edge of the borough. Road access is straightforward, with the A21 running south towards the M25 and the A232 connecting east and west.

The housing stock reflects Bromley’s long history and evolution. Victorian cottages sit in the Old Town, Edwardian and interwar semis line the streets around Sundridge Park and Shortlands, and larger detached homes fill the leafy roads of Bickley and Bromley Common. Gardens throughout the area are typically well established, with mature planting and good proportions. Nearby areas include Beckenham, Chislehurst, and West Wickham, all of which share Bromley’s suburban character and excellent green spaces, including the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which sits within the borough boundary.

“We visited the Biggin Hill showroom after researching garden rooms online for weeks. Walking through the actual buildings made the decision easy. The construction quality is in a completely different league to the flat-pack options we’d been looking at. Our garden studio in Bromley was installed in four weeks and the whole experience was smooth and professional. We’d recommend them without hesitation.” – Hannah and Tom, BR1
