Garden Rooms Caterham

Garden rooms built to suit Caterham’s hillside homes and North Downs setting. Family craftsmanship from a team that knows this part of Surrey inside out.

Caterham sits right in the heart of the North Downs, and the properties here often enjoy elevated positions with sloping gardens and lovely views. That means garden room builds in Caterham sometimes need a bit of extra thought around levels, access, and foundations, but that’s exactly the kind of challenge we enjoy. We’ve been doing this since 2004, and sloping sites are something we handle regularly.

The town has a great mix of housing, from Victorian and Edwardian homes in Caterham-on-the-Hill to newer family houses and apartments in Caterham Valley. Whatever your property type, the gardens here tend to offer enough space for a well-designed garden building, and the surrounding greenery provides natural screening that many homeowners really value.

Check out our buildings and prices online, or drive over to our Biggin Hill showroom for a hands-on look. We’re only about 15 minutes away, so it’s easy to fit into a weekend morning.

We design every garden room from scratch, taking into account your garden’s dimensions, gradient, aspect, and how you plan to use the building. That bespoke approach is what sets us apart from the flat-pack alternatives.

Garden Gym, Caterham

A firefighter in Caterham-on-the-Hill needed a training space that could accommodate shift-pattern workouts at odd hours. His 1960s detached house sat on a gentle slope, and we built a 5m x 4.5m garden gym on a levelled platform with steps up from the patio. The building was positioned to make the most of the morning sun through the front glazing.

Inside, we fitted impact-absorbing flooring, a heavy bag mount reinforced into the steel frame, and storage for his kettlebell and dumbbell collection. The electrics include dimmable LED strips for early morning sessions and a weatherproof external light for the path. We also added acoustic insulation to keep noise from heavy bag work from carrying to the neighbours.

He told us the gym has been a lifesaver for staying fit around his demanding shift pattern. Being able to do a full session at 6am or 11pm without worrying about gym opening times or disturbing anyone has made a real difference to his training consistency.

Garden Office, Caterham

A management consultant in Caterham Valley had been working from a cramped box room and needed a proper home office. Her Victorian terrace had a compact but well-proportioned garden, and we designed a 4m x 3m office based on our Midi range that maximised every square metre of usable space.

Despite the modest footprint, we fitted a full-width desk, overhead storage cabinets, and a small meeting corner with two chairs for when colleagues visit. The bi-fold doors open out onto a small deck, which she uses as a breakout space on warm days. Underfloor heating and double-glazed panels mean the office is comfortable in every season.

She says the garden office has completely changed her working life. The daily walk from the back door creates a mental separation between home and work that she never had when the office was upstairs, and the quality of her video calls has improved hugely with a proper, professional background.

    About Caterham

Caterham is a town of two halves. Caterham-on-the-Hill sits at the top of the North Downs escarpment, while Caterham Valley nestles below, and the two are connected by a steep road that gives the area much of its distinctive character. The town is surrounded by gorgeous countryside, with the North Downs Way national trail passing right through.

The railway station in Caterham Valley offers services to London Victoria and London Bridge in about 45 minutes, and local bus routes connect to Croydon, Redhill, and Oxted. Junction 6 of the M25 is close by, and Gatwick Airport is around 20 minutes by car.

Housing in Caterham covers a wide range. The Victorian and Edwardian homes in the older parts of town are popular with families, while more modern developments offer contemporary living. Many properties benefit from elevated positions with views across the valley or out towards the Surrey Hills, and gardens often feature mature trees and established planting that create a wonderfully private setting for a garden room.

“Living in Caterham, the Biggin Hill showroom was incredibly convenient. We drove over one Saturday, loved what we saw, and had a site visit booked by the following Wednesday. The whole process from first visit to finished building took about six weeks. Really smooth, really professional.” – Andy and Michelle, Caterham-on-the-Hill.
