Garden Gym, Esher

A sports physiologist in Claygate wanted a training facility at home where she could combine her own workouts with client assessments. Her detached 1970s house had a large, flat rear garden, and we built a 6.5m x 4.5m garden gym with a raised section at one end fitted out as a testing and assessment area with space for a bike ergometer and assessment bench.

The main gym space has reinforced flooring, a full cable crossover machine, and a designated functional training zone with kettlebells, medicine balls, and a battle rope anchor. We installed a separate electrical circuit for the assessment equipment, along with clinical-grade LED lighting in the testing area and warmer, dimmable lighting in the main gym.

She now runs her private practice from the garden gym three days a week and trains herself on the other days. The dual-zone layout was key to making the space work for both purposes, and she told us the building has paid for itself within the first year through the private consultations alone.

Garden Studio, Esher

An interior designer in Esher needed a studio where she could work on design boards, store fabric samples, and meet clients without using her living room. Her period property near Esher Green had a south-facing walled garden, and we designed a 5.5m x 4m garden studio from our Maxi range with a dedicated client meeting area and a large work table for laying out samples and plans.

We fitted floor-to-ceiling shelving along two walls for her extensive sample library, a pinboard display wall for mood boards, and task lighting calibrated for accurate colour assessment. A small cloakroom at the rear means clients don’t need to use the house facilities, and the separate garden entrance provides a professional feel.

She’s thrilled with the result and says the studio has elevated her business. Clients love visiting the space, which feels calm and curated, and having everything in one dedicated room has made her workflow significantly more efficient. The walled garden provides a beautiful backdrop for her Instagram content too.
