A management consultant living in a detached 1930s house near Richmond Park wanted a home gym that would replace his membership at a chain gym in Kingston town centre. He trained early, often at 5.30am, and needed a space he could use without disturbing his family. His rear garden was substantial — around 25 metres deep — with mature trees along the boundaries and a wide side access from the driveway.

We built a 6m x 4m garden room with reinforced flooring, full acoustic insulation, and LED lighting throughout. Inside, there’s a power rack with Olympic bar, a functional cable machine, a Concept2 rower, and a clear floor area for stretching and mobility work. We fitted a wall-mounted display for training videos and a Sonos speaker system.
