Garden Rooms Wandsworth

Garden rooms designed for Wandsworth’s Victorian terraces and family homes. Over twenty years of building experience, right across SW18.

Wandsworth is one of South West London’s most sought after family areas, with a strong mix of Victorian terraces, period conversions, and newer riverside developments. The borough is famously green, with Wandsworth Common and the Thames Path right on the doorstep. If your property has a garden and you need more space, a bespoke garden room is a smart, cost effective solution that avoids the disruption of a traditional extension.

We’re a family building company based in Biggin Hill, Kent, and we’ve been working across South West London for over twenty years. Wandsworth properties, particularly the Victorian and Edwardian homes around the Common and Wandsworth Town, often have rear gardens of 12 to 18 metres with usable side access. That’s ideal for a garden room project, and we’ve completed many builds in SW18 over the years.

We’d love for you to visit our showroom and see the standard of our work first hand. It’s the best way to understand what you’re investing in.

Our buildings and prices page gives a full rundown of options. Every project includes a free site survey, and our quotes cover everything from groundworks to the final coat of paint.

Garden Gym, Wandsworth

A couple living in a four bedroom Victorian terrace near Wandsworth Common wanted a shared gym space to replace their separate memberships at different clubs. Their rear garden was 14 metres deep with a slight slope towards the back fence. We levelled the base, built a retaining edge, and installed a 5m x 3.5m garden room with a small step up to the entrance.

The interior was split into two zones: one side with a power rack, barbell set, and plate loaded leg press, and the other with a Concept2 rower, spin bike, and yoga space. Full length mirrors on the back wall make the space feel larger, and a Bluetooth controlled lighting system lets them switch between bright training light and a softer setting for evening stretching.

They told us the gym has become a real focal point for the family. Their teenage daughter uses it for dance practice, and they’ve started hosting Saturday morning workout sessions with friends from the street. The building has been in daily use for over a year with no maintenance required beyond an annual cladding wash.

Garden Office, Wandsworth

A senior marketing director who’d been hotdesking in Battersea decided to invest in a permanent home office at her Edwardian semi on Alma Road. She wanted a space that felt calm and professional, distinct from the busy family home. We built a Maxi at 5.5m x 3.5m, oriented to face north east for consistent, glare free natural light throughout the working day.

The interior is clean and minimal: a floating desk, a single fitted bookshelf, and a small round table for video calls with a neutral background wall behind it. We installed acoustic double glazing to soften the noise from passing trains on the nearby railway line, plus underfloor heating and a wall mounted panel heater for redundancy during the coldest months.

She’s been working from the garden office four days a week since it was completed, and says the quality of her focus time has improved dramatically. The separation between home and work, she told us, was exactly what she needed to stop checking emails at the kitchen table after hours.

    About Wandsworth

Wandsworth sits along the south bank of the Thames, spanning from Putney Bridge to Battersea and stretching south to include Earlsfield and parts of Balham. The borough is one of London’s greenest, with Wandsworth Common, Wandsworth Park along the river, and King George’s Park by the River Wandle all providing excellent outdoor space. The area around Wandsworth Town has a strong village feel, with independent shops, gastro pubs, and a thriving Saturday market at the old Ram Brewery site.

Housing is varied but Victorian terraces dominate the streets around the Common and the so called Toast Rack area, where rows of handsome period houses line up with remarkable uniformity. Many have rear gardens of 12 to 18 metres with side gate access. Transport links are strong: Wandsworth Town and Clapham Junction stations connect to Waterloo, Victoria, and the Overground, while the area also benefits from good bus routes along the A3 corridor. For garden room installations, Wandsworth offers an excellent combination of space, access, and homeowners who value quality.
