Garden Rooms Farnborough

Garden Office Buildings has been creating bespoke garden rooms for Farnborough residents since 2004, and we’re just a few miles away in Biggin Hill.

Farnborough village is one of the prettiest spots in the Bromley borough, a place where character cottages sit alongside the 12th-century Church of St Giles, and the 250 acres of High Elms Country Park stretch out behind the rooftops. It’s a genuinely lovely setting, and the gardens here are some of the best we work with anywhere in our coverage area.

Properties in Farnborough range from period cottages in the village centre to substantial detached homes on roads like Farnborough Hill and within the exclusive Farnborough Park private estate. Gardens tend to be generous, often 80 feet or more, with mature planting and enough space to accommodate a good-sized garden building without feeling cramped.

We’re based in Biggin Hill, which means Farnborough is practically on our doorstep. We’ve built numerous garden offices, studios, and gyms in the village over the years, and we understand the need to complement the character of the surroundings. Come and see our work at our showroom, or browse our full range of buildings and prices online.

Every project starts with a free site visit. We’ll measure up, discuss your requirements, and design a building that makes the most of your garden. From planning considerations to electrics and landscaping, we handle the lot. It’s what we’ve been doing for over twenty years and over 1,000 builds.

Garden Gym, Farnborough

A PE teacher living near Farnborough Primary School wanted to build a gym in her back garden so she could train at home between school runs. Her 1960s detached house had a south-west facing garden of around 75 feet, with a good flat section near the back fence that was ideal for a building.

We installed a 5.5m x 3.5m garden gym with high ceilings, heavy-duty rubber flooring, and reinforced wall sections for mounting a pull-up bar and TRX system. Double doors open onto a small paved area she uses for outdoor training when the weather allows. We fitted LED panel lighting, a wall-mounted heater, and Bluetooth speakers wired into the ceiling.

She told us it’s the best investment she’s ever made. She trains every morning before the school day starts, and her partner uses it in the evenings for circuit work. At weekends they open the doors wide and enjoy the views across towards High Elms. She said the build quality exceeded her expectations, and several colleagues have asked for our details.

Garden Office, Farnborough

A financial consultant on Farnborough Hill had been commuting into the City for twenty years before his company shifted to hybrid working. He wanted a proper office space in the garden rather than converting a bedroom, and his generous plot gave us plenty of options. The garden sloped gently, so we built a level base and positioned the building to take advantage of the views across open countryside.

We built a 6.5m x 3.5m Maxi with a full-width sliding door system, plastered and painted internal walls, underfloor heating, and a dedicated data connection running from the house. The interior is split into a main desk area and a smaller meeting zone with a compact kitchenette. From the outside, the timber cladding ages beautifully and sits naturally among the surrounding trees.

He said the office has made hybrid working genuinely enjoyable. He’s more productive than he ever was in the City, and he saves over three hours a day on commuting. He also mentioned that having a separate building means he can properly switch off when he walks back to the house in the evening. It’s exactly the kind of result that makes our work rewarding.

    About Farnborough

Farnborough is a village that’s managed to keep its character despite being only a mile or so from Orpington station. The name dates back to 862 AD, and the village still has a shape and feel that would be recognisable from centuries past. St Giles Church, with its 12th-century nave, anchors the centre, and the Woodman and Change of Horses pubs give it a proper village social life.

High Elms Country Park sits immediately to the south, covering 250 acres of oak and beech woodland, chalk meadows, and formal gardens. It’s a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a real asset for residents who enjoy walking, cycling, or simply getting out into nature. The park connects to a wider network of footpaths through the North Downs.

Housing in Farnborough is a mix of character cottages, Mock Tudor detached homes, and modern family houses. The Farnborough Park private estate offers some of the most prestigious properties in the area, set on large plots behind gated entrances. Gardens throughout the village are typically well established with mature planting, which makes them ideal settings for a garden building that blends into its surroundings.

“I visited three garden room companies before choosing Garden Office Buildings. The difference was obvious as soon as I walked into their showroom. The construction quality is miles ahead of anything else I saw, and the team were knowledgeable without being pushy. Couldn’t be happier with our new office.” – Richard, Farnborough Village
