Garden Rooms Walton-on-Thames

Garden rooms crafted for Walton-on-Thames’ riverside homes and family properties. We’re a family builder with 20 years of experience across Surrey.

Walton-on-Thames is a friendly, well-connected town with a great mix of housing, and we’ve enjoyed building garden rooms here for many years. From the Victorian homes near the riverside to the 1930s semis in Hersham and the modern developments around the town centre, there’s a real variety of properties, and most of them have gardens with good potential for a quality garden building.

The town’s fast train service to London Waterloo, with semi-fast trains taking just 25 minutes, means plenty of residents split their working week between the office and home. A proper garden office makes that arrangement work brilliantly, giving you a dedicated, insulated, and fully equipped workspace just steps from the back door.

Have a look at our buildings and prices to see the options, or plan a visit to our Biggin Hill showroom. It’s about 40 minutes from Walton, and seeing the buildings in person is always the best way to make your decision.

We build everything bespoke, so whether you’ve got a compact courtyard or a sweeping riverside garden, we’ll design something that fits your space perfectly and looks great next to your property.

Garden Gym, Walton-on-Thames

A rowing coach who works at a local boat club in Walton wanted a dry-land training space at home for his own conditioning work. His 1920s semi-detached house near the river had a long, narrow rear garden, and we built a 6m x 3.5m garden gym designed to accommodate his rowing ergometer, free weights, and bodyweight training.

We fitted hard-wearing rubber flooring and positioned the erg facing the garden through full-height glazing, so he can watch the seasons change while grinding out metres. The narrow footprint meant clever use of wall-mounted storage, fold-away equipment, and a compact layout that wastes no space. We also added a small porch area at the entrance for muddy shoes and kit bags.

He told us the gym has been perfect for early morning sessions before coaching, and it’s also become a useful space for demonstrating technique to his athletes using video analysis. The long, narrow format actually works brilliantly for rowing, since the erg is a linear machine by nature.

Garden Office, Walton-on-Thames

A marketing director living in Hersham was working from home three days a week and needed an office that felt separate from family life. Her 1960s detached house had a generous rear garden, and we designed a 5m x 4m garden office from our Maxi range with a clean, modern interior that she describes as her favourite workspace in 20 years of marketing.

Inside, we fitted a full-width standing desk along the window wall, integrated cable management, and a video call backdrop wall with feature lighting and floating shelves. The heating comes via a wall-mounted panel heater with a smart thermostat, so the office is warm and ready when she walks in each morning. Externally, the building was clad in composite panels to match her home’s contemporary aesthetic.

She says the garden office has made remote working something she actually looks forward to. The mental separation from the house, the quiet, and the professional setup mean she’s more productive at home than she ever was in the company’s London office.

    About Walton-on-Thames

Walton-on-Thames is a historic market town on the south bank of the Thames in the Borough of Elmbridge. It has Celtic origins and a rich history, but today it’s best known as a popular commuter town with a strong community spirit and a growing range of shops and restaurants in the regenerated town centre. The riverside area, with its boathouses and Victorian buildings, gives the town a distinctive character.

The railway station offers four trains per hour to London Waterloo, with semi-fast services taking just 25 minutes. The M25 is accessible within 10 to 15 minutes by car via junctions 10 and 11, and the M3 junction 1 is equally close. Bus routes connect Walton to Weybridge, Kingston, Molesey, and Shepperton.

Housing in Walton spans a wide range, from Victorian terraces and riverside properties to interwar semis, post-war detached houses, and modern apartment developments. The town appeals to families, young professionals, and downsizers alike, with a mix of affordability and quality of life that’s increasingly hard to find in the Surrey commuter belt. Gardens vary from compact town plots to generous suburban spaces, and garden rooms have become a popular way to maximise living space without the upheaval of moving.
