Garden Rooms Blackheath

Bespoke garden rooms for Blackheath’s gorgeous Georgian and Victorian homes. We’ve been building across SE3 for over twenty years.

Blackheath is one of South East London’s most desirable postcodes, and it’s easy to see why. Grand Georgian terraces, elegant Victorian villas, and the iconic Span estates all sit around 275 acres of open heathland. With homes like these, it’s no surprise that so many Blackheath residents are looking for a garden office or studio that matches the quality of their property.

We’re a family company based just down the road in Biggin Hill, and we’ve been designing and installing garden rooms across SE3 for over twenty years. Whether you’re in a period house on The Paragon, a Span property on Blackheath Park, or a detached family home near the village, we’ll build something that sits perfectly in your garden. Most Blackheath homes have generous rear plots, and a well designed garden room makes brilliant use of that space.

Our showroom is a short drive from Blackheath, so you can see the build quality for yourself. We handle everything from foundations to electrics, and every build is tailored to your exact requirements. No flat pack kits, no subcontractors you haven’t met.

If you’re weighing up your options, our buildings and prices page gives you a clear idea of what’s possible at every budget. We’re always happy to pop over for a free site visit and chat through your plans in person.

Garden Gym, Blackheath

A couple living in a Victorian semi near Blackheath Standard asked us to build a dedicated home gym in their south facing rear garden. They’d been paying for two gym memberships in Greenwich and wanted something they could use year round without the commute. We designed a 5m x 3.5m insulated garden room with rubber flooring, full height glazing on one side, and ventilation sized for high intensity training.

The garden sloped away from the house, which is common on properties backing onto the heath, so we built up a level base and used composite decking to create a small terrace outside the entrance. Inside, there’s space for a squat rack, rowing machine, and a free weights area, plus a wall mounted TV for workout classes.

The clients told us it’s completely changed their routine. They’re training more often, and their two teenagers have started using it as well. The building blends nicely with their traditional brick garden wall and established planting, which was important to them given the conservation area guidelines in parts of SE3.

Garden Office, Blackheath

A barrister working from home needed a proper office separate from the family house, a handsome Edwardian detached on Morden Road. He wanted a quiet, professional space for video consultations and lengthy casework, away from the noise of three young children. We installed our Maxi model at 6m x 4m, finished in cedar cladding with anthracite aluminium windows.

The interior was fitted with built in shelving for legal volumes, a large L shaped desk area, and CAT6 ethernet hardwired back to the house. We also added acoustic insulation beyond our standard spec, because complete quiet was essential for his work. Underfloor heating keeps the space comfortable even in the depths of winter.

He’s since told us the garden office has been transformative for his practice. He can take calls without interruption, and the short walk across the garden gives him a clear boundary between work and home life. Several of his neighbours have been round to have a look, and we’ve had two further enquiries from the same street.

    About Blackheath

Blackheath sits on high ground between Greenwich and Lewisham, centred around its famous open heath. The area is split between the Royal Borough of Greenwich and the London Borough of Lewisham, though most residents simply call it Blackheath and leave it at that. The village has a strong independent high street with cafes, bookshops, and restaurants, and the All Saints church is a local landmark. Architecturally, you’ll find everything from the Georgian splendour of The Paragon to post war modernist Span developments, plus rows of handsome Victorian and Edwardian family houses with well kept rear gardens.

Transport links are solid. Blackheath station offers Southeastern services into London Bridge and Charing Cross, and buses connect to Greenwich, Lewisham, and beyond. The heath itself is a huge draw, used for kite flying, running, and the famous November fireworks. Properties here tend to have good sized gardens, especially the detached and semi detached houses on the Cator Estate and around Blackheath Park, making them ideal for a garden room installation.

    Visit Our Showroom

Our Biggin Hill showroom is roughly 25 minutes by car from Blackheath, heading south through Bromley. It’s a straightforward drive on the A21 and A233, and well worth the trip to see our Midi, Maxi, and Multi models up close.

“We visited the showroom on a Saturday morning and were really impressed by the quality. You can feel the difference compared to the flat pack options we’d been looking at online. The team talked us through everything honestly and didn’t push us towards the most expensive option. Our garden office was installed six weeks later and we couldn’t be happier.” – Homeowner, Blackheath SE3
