Garden Rooms Earlsfield

Garden rooms tailored to Earlsfield’s popular Victorian terraces and family-friendly streets. Garden Office Buildings knows SW18 inside out.

Earlsfield has become one of South West London’s most popular family neighbourhoods, and it’s easy to see why. Rows of attractive Victorian and Edwardian terraces line streets like Swaby Road, Isis Street, and Quinton Street, many with well-proportioned rear gardens that are ideal for a garden room. Whether you need a home office, a personal gym, or a creative workspace, we can build something that fits your garden and your life.

We’re a family-run company based in Biggin Hill with over twenty years of building experience. Earlsfield’s housing stock — predominantly late Victorian and Edwardian terraces with intricate tile and brickwork details — is exactly the type of property we work with most often. Side return access can be narrow on some of these streets, but we’ve handled hundreds of similar builds and plan every delivery down to the last beam.

Head to our showroom to see the quality for yourself. We use insulated timber frame construction, high-spec double glazing, and durable cladding on every build. These are year-round buildings designed to work as hard as any room in your house.

Our buildings and prices page provides a clear, honest breakdown of what things cost at each size. We offer free site surveys and fixed-price quotes with no hidden charges.

Garden Gym, Earlsfield

A secondary school headteacher living on Lidiard Road wanted a private gym where she could decompress after long days. She’d tried running on Wandsworth Common but needed something she could use year-round regardless of weather or daylight. Her Victorian terrace had a 13-metre garden with access through a side gate, giving us enough room for a 4.5m x 3m build with space left for her children’s trampoline.

We fitted commercial-grade rubber flooring, a wall-mounted TRX anchor system, and power for a Concept2 rower and spin bike. A large window on the garden-facing side lets in plenty of natural light, and we installed a discreet extraction fan to manage humidity during intense sessions. The exterior uses charcoal composite cladding to give the building a contemporary look against the traditional Victorian brickwork.

She told us the gym has become essential to her wellbeing. She trains for 45 minutes most evenings and says the routine has noticeably improved her sleep and energy levels. Her partner uses the space for morning yoga, and the building has held up perfectly through two winters of regular use. King George’s Park is still there for outdoor runs when the mood strikes, but having the gym at the bottom of the garden has been a revelation.

Garden Studio, Earlsfield

A freelance sound engineer who’d been renting studio space near Wandsworth Town station decided to invest in a purpose-built workspace in the garden of his Edwardian mid-terrace on Littleton Street. The brief was a fully soundproofed mixing room where he could work through the night without disturbing his family or neighbours. We built a Midi at 4.5m x 3.5m with enhanced acoustic insulation, a sealed door system, and independent ventilation.

The walls use a room-within-a-room construction technique with decoupled inner panels to prevent sound transmission. We fitted a dedicated electrical supply with isolated circuits for audio equipment, and the lighting is fully dimmable to create the right working atmosphere. The exterior gives nothing away — it looks like any other garden room from outside, finished in larch cladding with a discreet entrance.

He says the studio has transformed his career. He’s no longer paying rent on external space, and the acoustic isolation is better than the commercial unit he left. Clients from record labels and post-production houses visit for sessions, and he’s been able to take on film scoring work that requires long overnight mixing sessions. The Wandle Trail runs just behind the garden, and he often takes a break with a walk along the river between sessions.

    About Earlsfield

Earlsfield sits between Wandsworth and Tooting in the London Borough of Wandsworth, centred on Garratt Lane with its independent cafes, restaurants, and neighbourhood shops. The area is characterised by its attractive Victorian and Edwardian terraces — streets like Swaby Road, Quinton Street, Isis Street, and Lidiard Road are lined with well-maintained period homes, many with original tile paths, bay windows, and decorative brickwork. King George’s Park provides 55 acres of green space with a tennis club and playground, and the Wandle Trail offers a peaceful walking and cycling route along the river.

Earlsfield station has South Western Railway services reaching Waterloo in around 12 minutes, making it a strong commuter location. Wandsworth Common station is also nearby. The surrounding areas of Wandsworth, Tooting, Southfields, and Balham are all within easy reach. Most homes have rear gardens of a good size for a garden room, and the residential streets are generally quiet with decent side access for materials delivery.

“I’d been put off by some of the garden room companies that felt like they were selling sheds at office prices. The showroom here was completely different — solid, well-insulated buildings that genuinely feel like proper rooms. My studio was delivered on time and on budget, and I’ve recommended them to three friends already.” — Chris, Earlsfield SW18
