Garden Rooms Surrey

Garden Office Buildings is the trusted choice for homeowners across Surrey, bringing two decades of craftsmanship to gardens from Epsom to Guildford and beyond.

Surrey is one of the most desirable counties in England, where beautiful countryside, excellent schools, and fast connections to London combine to create a quality of life that’s hard to beat. At Garden Office Buildings, we’ve been designing and building bespoke garden rooms across Surrey since 2004, and we understand the high standards that homeowners here expect.

We work across the full breadth of the county. From the commuter towns of Epsom, Leatherhead, and Dorking to the prestigious villages of Cobham, Esher, and Weybridge. From the county town of Guildford and the fast-growing hub of Woking to the charming market towns of Reigate, Redhill, and Farnham. We also serve Croydon and the areas that border south London, as well as the quieter corners around Haslemere, Godalming, Cranleigh, and Oxted. Wherever you are in Surrey, we’ll come to you.

Surrey’s gardens are among the finest we work in. The county is famously green, with a quarter of its area covered by the Surrey Hills National Landscape and extensive woodland, commons, and parkland throughout. Properties range from Victorian and Edwardian homes in the established towns to substantial detached houses on large plots in the rural villages, and modern executive homes on developments across the county. We’ve designed buildings for all of them, adapting each one to the specific garden, setting, and architecture. See our buildings and prices for an overview, or visit our showroom in Biggin Hill to experience the quality in person.

Every build we undertake in Surrey is designed from scratch around your garden and your requirements. We handle everything from the initial site visit through groundworks, construction, and electrics to the final handover. Our own skilled team does all the work, no subcontractors, and with over 1,000 completed builds, we bring experience and care to every single project.

Garden Gym, Cobham

A private equity director living in Cobham contacted us about building a gym in the grounds of his detached family home near Stoke D’Abernon. He had been commuting into the City and found it impossible to maintain a consistent training schedule. His property sat on a generous half-acre plot with a south-facing garden surrounded by mature hedging and established trees.

We built a 7m x 5m insulated garden gym with a polished concrete floor, floor-to-ceiling glazing across the full front and side elevations, and a sedum green roof that blends with the surrounding landscape. Inside, we fitted a dedicated zone for cardio equipment with reinforced flooring, a free weights area with wall-mounted mirrors, and a small recovery space with a treatment bench. Climate control is handled by an air source heat pump, and we installed an outdoor shower by the entrance for use after summer sessions.

He told us the gym has become the most used space on the property. He trains every morning before heading to the station, and his wife uses it for personal training sessions three times a week. Their children have started using the cardio equipment at weekends. He said the quality of the build is consistent with the standard of the rest of the property, which was exactly what he required, and that the green roof was the finishing detail that convinced his wife it wouldn’t spoil the garden.

Garden Office, Reigate

An HR consultant in Reigate had been working from a dining room table since her company shifted to permanent remote working. Her Victorian semi on Bell Street had plenty of character but limited space inside, and she needed a quiet, professional environment for confidential video calls with clients. The garden was around 65 feet long with a slight slope and mature planting along both boundaries.

We designed a 5m x 4m Multi with a partitioned layout that includes a main office area and a small meeting room separated by a sliding door. The building is fully insulated with plastered internal walls, underfloor heating, and acoustic panels on the ceiling to improve sound quality for calls. We positioned it at the far end of the garden on a levelled base, with full-width glazing looking back towards the house and the flint wall of Priory Park visible above the treeline.

She said the office has made remote working genuinely viable for her role. The separate meeting room means she can take confidential calls without interruption, and the professional setting makes a real impression on clients during video meetings. She mentioned that the building has also increased the appeal of the property, and her estate agent neighbour told her it would add meaningful value if she ever decided to sell. The entire project, from first visit to handover, took just under six weeks.

    About Surrey

Surrey lies immediately to the south and south-west of London, stretching from the edges of the capital deep into the English countryside. It is one of the most affluent and desirable counties in England, combining outstanding natural beauty with excellent transport links and some of the best schools in the country. The Surrey Hills National Landscape, covering roughly a quarter of the county, takes in the rolling chalk downlands of the North Downs and the wooded ridges of the Greensand Hills, creating a landscape of exceptional quality just a short distance from central London.

The county’s towns and villages each have their own distinct character. Guildford, the county town, blends a medieval high street with a thriving university and cultural scene. Epsom is famous worldwide for its racecourse and Derby Day. Dorking and Reigate sit in the shadow of Box Hill and the Surrey Hills, while Cobham, Esher, and Weybridge in the Elmbridge district are among the most prestigious addresses in the south-east, popular with professionals and celebrities alike. Woking and Leatherhead are busy commuter hubs, while Farnham and Haslemere at the western edge of the county offer a quieter, more rural pace of life. Oxted and Caterham, close to the Kent border, are easily accessible from our Biggin Hill base.

Transport links are a major part of Surrey’s appeal. Frequent train services from towns across the county reach London Waterloo, London Bridge, and London Victoria in 25 to 50 minutes, making it one of the most accessible commuter counties in England. The M25, M3, A3, and A24 provide strong road connections. Properties across Surrey range from period cottages and Victorian villas to executive new-builds and substantial country houses, and gardens tend to be generous and well maintained. A bespoke garden room is an increasingly popular way for Surrey homeowners to add a home office, studio, gym, or self-contained annexe without compromising the green space they moved here to enjoy.

“We looked at several garden room companies across Surrey before making the trip to Biggin Hill. It was immediately obvious that Garden Office Buildings operate at a different level. The construction quality is superb, the team are knowledgeable and straightforward, and our garden office in Reigate was delivered exactly as promised. We couldn’t be happier with the result and have already recommended them to friends in Dorking and Epsom.” – Charlotte and James, Reigate
